Ohio Stateannounced that quarterback J.T. Barrett will miss the remainder of the season after fracturing his right ankle during the fourth quarter of Saturday's 42-28 win over rival Michigan at Ohio Stadium.
Before suffering the apparent injury, Barrett had completed 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 176 yards and a touchdown while adding 89 yards and two scores on the ground.
Barrett, a redshirt freshman, was elevated to the starting spot after senior Braxton Millerinjured his shoulder in August. Over 12 games this season, Barrett passed for 2,834 yards with 34 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has also recorded 938 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
Ohio State is 11-1 (8-0 Big Ten). It was ranked sixth in the latest version of the College Football Playoff rankings. The Buckeyes have already clinched a berth in the Big Ten title game on Dec. 6.
