Report: Big 12 will not add new members

The Big 12 will not seek to add new members, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

Talk of Big 12 expansion was re-ignited after TCU and Baylor were both left out of the inaugural College Football Playoff. Both schools were passed over in favor of Ohio State, after the Buckeyes had a strong showing in the Big Ten championship game. The Big 12 is the only Power Five conference without a championship game.

The NCAA requires a conference to have two divisions of at least six teams in order to contest a championship game, but the Big 12 has only had 10 members since 2011. The NCAA would have to grant the Big 12 a waiver to hold a championship game. 

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby named Baylor and TCU co-champions, despite the fact Baylor defeated TCU in October.
