Wright St.-Ohio St. Preview

After responding to a loss in emphatic fashion, Ohio State will try to maintain its intensity in its final game before Big Ten play.

That usually hasn't been too much of an issue in home contests.

The No. 21 Buckeyes look to continue their dominance in Columbus on Saturday night against Wright State.

Two days after taking an 82-74 defeat to then-No. 24 North Carolina in Chicago, Ohio State routed Miami (Ohio) 93-55 on Monday. The Buckeyes (10-2) had slow starts in each of their two losses, and the consistency from Monday's game is something the team is hoping to see more often.

"Every team we play is coming for us, so we've been playing with targets on our backs. For us, it's our job to get our mind right and play hard for 40 minutes," guard Kam Williams said.

Williams scored a team-best 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting Monday after going 0 for 4 and registering two points against North Carolina. Fellow freshman and Buckeyes leading scorer D'Angelo Russell made 5 of 10 shots - 4 of 8 from 3-point range - in a 15-point performance after missing 13 of 17 versus the Tar Heels in an 11-point game.

That shooting difference is hardly surprising considering the Buckeyes are converting at 56.0 percent while going 10-0 on their own floor and shooting 42.6 percent from beyond the arc. They're averaging 88.0 points at home against mostly unheralded teams and have topped 90 in six of them.

Ohio State has won 22 in a row over non-conference visitors and 58 straight when those non-Big Ten teams are unranked.

The competition will ramp up with a visit from Iowa on Tuesday followed by Illinois on Jan. 3 before its first conference road game three days later against Minnesota.

First, the Buckeyes will take on the Raiders (8-5), who had a season-high four-game win streak snapped Tuesday with a 68-60 loss to visiting George Mason. They let the Patriots shoot 52.0 percent - the second-best by an opponent this season - and managed just 40.7 percent at their own end, including a 3-of-18 performance on 3-pointers.

Leading scorer J.T. Yoho, averaging 17.7 points, went 2 of 8 from beyond the arc but was 5 of 10 inside of it while scoring a team-best 16 points.

Wright State has won four of five on the road but has lost in each of its 12 visits to Top 25 teams since beating No. 20 Butler in double overtime in 2002. The Raiders are playing a Top 25 opponent for the first time since a 68-58 loss at No. 11 Cincinnati on Dec. 22, 2012.

Ohio State is 3-0 all-time against Wright State and was ranked No. 3 in the most recent meeting, a 73-42 home victory Nov. 11, 2011.

The status of Buckeyes backup center Anthony Lee is unknown because of a sprained ankle suffered Monday.
