Kendal Briles to take over as Baylor's offensive coordinator
Baylor coach Art Briles said on Friday that his son, Kendal, will become the Bears' offensive coordinator, according to a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Briles is in his seventh season as an assistant at Baylor and the third as the team's passing game coordinator. He is also regarded as one of the top recruiters in the Big 12.
Kendall Wright and Tevin Reese are among the talented wide receivers Baylor has produced during Briles' tenure. Baylor has ranked in the nation's top 20 in total offense, as measured by yards per play, every season since 2010.
Briles will replace Phil Montgomery, who left to become Tulsa's head coach.
The Bears will face Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day. Briles will be on the field calling plays for that game, according to the report.
