Syracuse's Dajuan Coleman out for season

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Injured Dajuan Coleman won't play this season for Syracuse.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said Monday on the Atlantic Coast Conference call that the junior center-forward is ''not going to play this year.''

It's been close to a year since the 6-foot-9, 255-pound Coleman underwent an innovative surgery on his left knee, but Boeheim said Coleman has had some soreness and stiffness the last couple of practices.

''It's official as far as I'm concerned, unless something radical happens,'' Boeheim said. ''I don't think it will.''

Boeheim said before Christmas that Coleman probably would not be ready to contribute this season and the school would look to seek a medical hardship waiver.

Coleman has averaged 4.6 points and four rebounds in 37 games for the Orange. He missed eight straight conference games with a knee injury his freshman year and only played in 13 games last season because of knee problems.
