Georgia hires Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator
The Georgia Bulldogs have hired Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator, the school announced Wednesday. He replaces Mike Bobo, who left last month to become the head coach at Colorado State.
Schottenheimer has been an NFL offensive coordinator since 2006, first with the New York Jets and later with the St. Louis Rams. In the past two seasons, the Rams' offense ranked 28th and 30th in the NFL in yardage.
Schottenheimer has spent the majority of his career coaching in the NFL, but does have two years of college coaching experience. He was a receivers coach at Syracuse in 1999 and coached tight ends at USC in 2000.

Schottenheimer has experience as a player in the SEC. He was a backup quarterback at Florida from 1994-96.
Georgia's offense will be without starting quarterback Hutson Mason and star running back Todd Gurley next season. Mason will graduate and Gurley has declared for the NFL draft. Running back Nick Chubb, who was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2014, will return.
