Michigan's Caris LeVert undergoes surgery
Michigan guard Caris LeVert underwent surgery, coach John Beilein said Wednesday.
LeVert will miss the remainder of the season after reportedly suffering a "complete fracture" in his foot during the Wolverines' two-point win over Northwestern on Saturday.
He was leading Michigan in scoring (14.9), rebounding (4.9), assists (3.7), steals (1.8) and minutes (35.8)
"Caris has been working so hard this season, and for this to happen is very unfortunate," Beilein said in a news release on Sunday. "If we know anything about Caris, he will do everything it takes to not only get better but to help his teammates during this time. He is a tremendous young man who I will really miss coaching the remainder of the season. However, I am optimistic he will have a complete recovery."
LeVert is expected to undergo 12 weeks of rehabilitation. If he elects to declare for the NBA draft, the 6-foot-7 junior is projected as a potential first-round pick.
Michigan (12-7) beat Rutgers on Tuesday without LeVert and will host No. 6 Wisconsin on Saturday.
