Auburn guard Tahj Shamsid-Deen to miss remainder of season

Auburn sophomore guard Tahj Shamsid-Deen will miss the remainder of the season due to two dislocated shoulders, the school announced on Friday.

Shamsid-Deen, who will undergo surgery on both shoulders, has battled through the injuries since early in the season.

Tigers coach Bruce Pearl said Shamsid-Deen suffered his "fifth or sixth dislocation" during Tuesday night's loss to Arkansas.

Over 23 games this season, Shamsid-Deen averaged 6.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game.

"It got to the point to decide whether or not he should go for loose ball or not, whether he could set a screen or not, whether he should reach and give help and whether he should strip and rip," Pearl

said.

"We don't want there to be any more damage. He's been a real warrior battling through a lot of pain."

Auburn also announced that guard Antoine Mason's status is uncertain as he spent time in New York with his father, who recently suffered a heart attack.

Mason, the Tigers' second leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, rejoined the team on Saturday and played 25 minutes in a one-point win over Georgia.

Auburn will host Alabama on Tuesday.
