Three Vanderbilt players are recovering from concussions, according to a report from The Tennessean.

The three players are freshman point guard Shelton Mitchell, freshman forward Jeff Roberson and senior forward Shelby Moats.

Coach Kevin Stallings said Moats has suffered two concussions and may not play again this season, while Mitchell and Roberson were limited in practice on Friday, the report says.

The three players have missed 12 games combined this season because of the concussions. From the report:

"Shelby does not look anywhere close to being back, and he may miss the rest of the season," Stallings said. "Jeff and Shelton are both close at this juncture, provided there are no setbacks. I think there's a concern, particularly on Shelby's part. With this being the second one, he is a little bit leery of it happening again.

"Everyone is much more sensitive to the concussion issue right now. As coaches, we joke around and say, 'We used to call it a headache, and now they call it a concussion.' But I made a deal a long time ago with the training staff: I don't try to tell them about injuries, and they don't try to tell me about basketball."

Moats has averaged 1.1 points and 1.0 rebound in 4.2 minutes over nine games, while Roberson has averaged 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 20.5 minutes over 25 games and Mitchell has averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 assists in 22.3 minutes over 22 games.

Vanderbilt (14-12, 4-9 SEC) hosts Missouri on Saturday.
