Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour told The Patriot News that men's basketball coach Pat Chambers' job is safe for next season, even if the Nittany Lions lose the rest of their remaining games this year.

Chambers is in his fourth season as Penn State's head coach. The Nittany Lions are 15-13 on the season with a 3-12 mark in the Big Ten, which is better than only Rutgers.

"He deserves more opportunity than he's gotten," said Barbour. "And we need to help him more. No one wins if we just keep turning over men's basketball coaches.

"These things take time. I believe we have the chance to turn a corner."

Prior to coming to State College, Chambers coached at Boston University for two years, going 21-14 each season. In 2010-11, his Terriers team reached the NCAA tournament
