Baylor testing 410-pound LaQuan McGowan at tight end
Baylor head coach Art Briles said on Wednesday that 410-pound LaQuan McGowan will play tight end or slot receiver during spring practices, reports the Waco Tribune-Herald.
McGowan, a redshirt senior, played reserve offensive guard last season but caught an 18-yard touchdown pass as a tight end in the Cotton Bowl vs. Michigan State that generated national attention.

[daily_cut.college football]McGowan has been wearing No. 80 and is up 20 pounds from last season's playing weight, according to Baylor's spring roster.
"We're looking at him as kind of a slot and tight end type of guy," Baylor coach Art Briles said. "He can certainly help us in the run game in those situations. The way we're looking at it is we've got three games in nonconference to kind of feel it out and see what he can do and teach him what to do in live action."

McGowan appeared in 13 games in both 2014 and 2013 as a backup offensive lineman and special teams contributor.
Baylor will open the 2015 season on Sept. 4 at SMU. The Bears finished 11-2 last season, ending No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings after a 42-41 loss to No. 8 Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl.
