Alabama RB Tyren Jones arrested for marijuana possession
Alabama running back Tyren Jones, already suspended from spring practices, was arrested Tuesday for marijuana possession, according to AL.com.
He was stopped by police in a car that smelled of marijuana and had digital scales in it. Police found a small amount of marijuana in Jones' pants pocket. He was released on $1,000 bond.
"We have a drug and alcohol policy here, and we have circumstances that a guy has to go through," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "I guess discipline is punishment."
"I've always viewed my position as a coach to help young people have a better chance to be successful as you would your own children in your own home. I don't know if you have children, but you don't throw them out with the bath water every time they do something wrong."

Jones' arrest comes on the heels of two other Crimson Tide brushes with the law. Defensive back Geno Smith was arrested Saturday morning for driving under the influence, his second such arrest during his time at Alabama. Smith was suspended indefinitely from the team by Saban.
The same day as Smith's arrest, defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor was arrested on domestic violence charges, the second such charges leveled against him during his collegiate football career. Saban dismissed Taylor from the team on Sunday.
Jones was sitting out spring practices for unspecified conduct Saban termed "not to the standard of the Alabama football program."
