Stanford band barred from traveling to road games for one year
UPDATE: Stanford’s band is once again under fire for trolling Iowa by playing the FarmersOnly.com jingle, and forming the face of a sad farmer, a corn maze and a giant cow that was tipped.

The Stanford University marching band will not be allowed to travel to road games for one year after a university investigation found the band had violated multiple school policies, the school announced Friday [Editor’s note: Friday, March 2, 2015].
"Violations included a tradition in which a band member was given an alcoholic concoction intended to make that individual vomit publicly; an annual trip in which some band members used illegal substances; and a band selection process in which individuals were asked a number of inappropriate questions on sexual matters," the school said.
The band will not be allowed to attend away games in the 2015–16 academic year but will still perform at home games and certain non-athletic events.
A "scatter band" similar to those at Columbia and Yale, the Stanford band is known for its unusual performances, featuring a combination of music and humorous voiceovers.
"The university's objective is to ensure a safe and harassment-free environment while honoring the band's traditions and its unique, irreverent identity," Stanford associate vice provost and dean of residential education Deborah Golder said in a statement. "We hope the band will use this outcome as a positive platform for further strengthening its culture and ensuring the band's vibrancy and good stewardship in the years ahead."
