The Michigan State Board of Trustees voted unanimously to extend the contracts of athletic director Mark Hollis, men's basketball coach Tom Izzo, men's hockey coach Tom Anastos and women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant on Wednesday, reports Kyle Feldscher of Michigan Live.

Izzo earned $3.8 in total compensation for the 2013-2014 season and had his contract extended through June 30, 2021. He is the fifth highest-paid coach in college basketball behindDuke's Mike Krzyzewski, Louisville's Rick Pitino, Kentucky's John Calipari and Kansas' Bill Self. Florida's Billy Donovan also earned more than Izzo, but is now the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Spartans' 2015 season came to an end in the Final Four with a loss to the eventual-champion Duke Blue Devils. Izzo amounted a 23-11 record during the regular season before losing the Big 10 conference championship game to the Wisconsin Badgers.

He has won one NCAA championships for the Spartans since arriving in 1995. Under his tutelage, the Spartans have made nine Elite Eight finishes since 1999.

In 2010, Izzo turned down an offer to coach LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and informed the trustees that he intends to be a "Spartan for life."
