Notre Dame running back Tarean Folston is out for the season, coach Brian Kelly told reporters Sunday.
Folston underwent an MRI after hurting his knee early in Notre Dame's win over Texas on Saturday. The MRI showed Folston tore his ACL.
Folston, a junior, ran three times for 19 yards before leaving the game. He ran for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns in his first two seasons. Senior C.J. Prosise took over lead back duties and ran 20 times for 98 yards. Freshman Josh Adams carried five times for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
Folston led the Fighting Irish in rushing last season.
