UCLA Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen has been named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week on offense.

The No. 13 Bruins defeated Virginia 34–16 in their season opener. Rosen, a true freshman, completed 28 of 35 passes for 351 yards and three touchdowns. He became the first Bruins offensive player to win the award since quarterback Drew Olson in 2005.

Rosen was announced as UCLA’s starting quarterback less than two weeks before the team's first game. He beat juniors Jerry Neuheisel and Mike Fafaul for the job.

Rosen, a former five-star recruit, was the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the Class of 2015, and  No. 2 overall, according to Rivals.
