Report: Ole Miss bracing for OT Laremy Tunsil to miss more games
Ole Miss is bracing for the possibility that offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil will miss several more games, reports ESPN’s Chris Low.
Tunsil is under NCAA investigation for allegedly accepting impermissible benefits following allegations made by his mother’s estranged husband, Lindsey Miller, which followed a June incident in which Tunsil and Miller were involved in an altercation that prompted police involvement.
ESPN’s report indicated the “sticking point” that kept Tunsil sidelined for Ole Miss’s first two games is a loaner vehicle he received from an Oxford, Miss., dealership while his car was being repaired. Tunsil allegedly kept the loaner vehicle for an “extended” period of time before returning it, long enough to indicate acceptance of an extra benefit under NCAA rules.

Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork declined comment to ESPN on Wednesday. Upon announcing Tunsil would sit out Ole Miss’s Sept. 5 season opener against Tennessee-Martin, the Rebels only said it was a “precautionary measure.”
Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said last week that he had not spoken to any NCAA representatives regarding the investigation into Tunsil.
Tunsil, a junior, was a preseason All-America selection after starting 20 games and allowing only two sacks over his first two seasons at Ole Miss.
The No. 15 Rebels will play at No. 2 Alabama on Saturday night.
