Fordham Rams will don stars and stripes for Saturday’s Liberty Cup
The Fordham Rams will don American flag uniforms in their annual Liberty Cup against Columbia on Saturday, the school announced.
It's the second straight year the school will wear the special uniforms.
The Rams and Lions have met a total of 23 times, and each year since 2000. The Liberty Cup originated in 2001, when the two schools met four days after the 9/11 attacks despite several professional teams postponing their games. They began to hand out the trophy in 2002.
Each year, the game pays tribute to the men and women who responded to the attacks, including the NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD.
The Rams will pay tribute once again by sporting Ameircan flag uniforms and helmets, with “NYPD”, “FDNY” and “PAPD” above their numbers.

Fordham is 9–4 all-time in the Liberty Cup, and enters ranked No. 19 in the FCS with a 1–1 record.
