Season-long rash of QB injuries continues for one more week
The season-long flurry of injuries to college quarterbacks shows no signs of slowing down.
Boston College's Darius Wade, Syracuse's Eric Dungey and Wake Forest's John Wolford all were knocked out of their respective games this week.
Boston College announced Saturday that Wade would be out for the rest of the season because of an ankle injury he suffered Friday in a 14-0 loss to No. 9 Florida State.
For Syracuse, it marked the second time one of its quarterbacks has been lost to injury. Terrel Hunt had hurt his Achilles tendon in Syracuse's opener, knocking him out for the rest of the season.
This year already had featured season-ending injuries to Kansas State's Jesse Ertz, BYU's Taysom Hill and Notre Dame's Malik Zaire among others.

VERNON ADAMS, OREGON
Adams didn't play at all for the 12th-ranked Ducks against Georgia State on Saturday due to a broken index finger on his throwing hand. Adams hurt the finger in a season-opening 61-42 victory over Eastern Washington. Adams still played last week in a 31-28 loss to No. 4 Michigan State, though he said the injury bothered him in that game. Jeff Lockie started in Adams' place against Georgia State. Jeff Lockie came through in his first start and Oregon won 61-28.

ERIC DUNGEY, SYRACUSE
Dungey got hurt when he absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit from Central Michigan's Mitch Stanizek in the second quarter of Syracuse's 30-27 overtime victory. The play resulted in Stanizek's ejection from the game. Dungey had taken over as Syracuse's quarterback after Hunt injured his Achilles tendon in Syracuse's season-opening triumph over Rhode Island. With Dungey sidelined, Zack Mahoney and Austin Wilson alternated at quarterback the rest of the game.

DARIUS WADE, BOSTON COLLEGE
Wade will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left ankle while getting tackled in the backfield Friday during a 14-0 loss to No. 9 Florida State. Boston College officials announced the severity of the injury Saturday.
Jeff Smith and Troy Flutie, the nephew of 1984 Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, both played quarterback Friday after Wade's injury.

JOHN WOLFORD, WAKE FOREST
Wolford injured his left ankle early in the Demon Deacons' 17-14 victory over Army. He returned to the game briefly before leaving for good. X-rays were negative, but Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson said it was too soon to tell whether he could play next week against Indiana. Freshman Kendall Hinton replaced Wolford and had 101 yards rushing and 159 yards passing. He had two touchdown runs and a pair of interceptions

GUNNER KIEL, CINCINNATI
Kiel got a concussion in the third quarter Saturday after a hit by Miami (Ohio)'s Bryson Albright that drew a roughing-the-passer penalty. Kiel's head slammed onto the ground and he went to the sideline. Replacement Hayden Moore allowed four turnovers in the fourth quarter - two fumbles and threw two interceptions - but the Bearcats held on for a 37-33 win.
