After a 3–0 start to their season, the Ole Miss Rebels and defensive back Trae Elston are featured in a Sports Illustrated cover story by Andy Staples.

In wins over UT Martin, Fresno State and Alabama, Elston, a senior, has logged a team-leading three interceptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns with 12 total tackles.

Last week, Ole Miss beat SEC-rival Alabama, 43–37, in a victory that elevated the Rebels from No. 15 to No. 3 in the nation and pushed the Crimson Tide to No. 12. In his story for SI’s Campus Rush, Staples details Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze’s recruiting process, which has led to the level of talent Ole Miss now possesses that allowed the team to outmatch Alabama.

The Rebels will take on Vanderbilt on Saturday in Week 4 of college football.

Also in this issue are stories about Peyton Manning’s apparent struggles, Chris Bosh’s near-death experience and a special report on the abusive power of college football coaches.
