Suspect in deadly Oklahoma State crash faces murder charges
The woman suspected of driving into a crowd at Oklahoma State’s homecoming parade, killing four people, faces second-degree murder charges, according to the Associated Press.
Adacia Chambers, 25, is alleged to have driven her car into a crowd of people Saturday afternoon. She was arrested Saturday on suspicion of DUI and police announced the murder charges on Sunday. Chambers’s lawyer, Tony Coleman, said at a press conference Sunday that he did not believe his client had been drinking. He added that he thought she suffers from some sort of mental illness.
Marvin Stone, a 65-year-old former Oklahoma State professor, and his wife Bonnie were killed in the crash. Nikita Nakal, a graduate student at the University of Central Oklahoma, and an unnamed two-year-old child were the other victims.
In addition to the fatalities, dozens of people were injured, some critically. Police released the names of the victims on Sunday.
