Notre Dame running back C.J. Prosise was injured during Saturday’s 19–16 win over Boston College.

Prosise left the game during the first half with his second injury in three weeks, reportedly an ankle problem. Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly told NBC Sports at halftime that Prosise had an X-ray to determine the severity of the injury. He did not return to the game, and left the field on crutches.

The senior rushed for 57 yards on eight carries in the game. Freshman Josh Adams shouldered the rushing load with Prosise out, running 14 times for 36 yards.

Prosise is Notre Dame’s leading rusher this season and was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award this week.

Notre Dame (10–1) faces Stanford (8–2) next week.
