Ex-Georgia coach Mark Richt open to coaching again
Former Georgia head coach Mark Richt may consider coaching elsewhere after being fired on Sunday, he told reporters at a press conference Monday.
“I’m just not ready to say what I want to do yet,” Richt said.
Richt has compiled a 145–51 record at Georgia, including two SEC titles, after coaching the Bulldogs for 15 seasons. Georgia has not won a conference championship since 2005, and the team has not played in the SEC Championship since 2012.
Richt was reportedly offered a different role within the Bulldogs athletic department, which he has not accepted yet. He told reporters that his plan is now to prepare for the upcoming bowl game.
Before coaching at Georgia, Richt coached at Florida State and East Carolina. He spent his first four seasons with the Seminoles coaching quarterbacks before adding offensive coordinator duties in 1994.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen and Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart may be considered as replacements for Richt.

The Bulldogs finished this season 9–3, good for third place in the SEC East.
