Wichita State F Anton Grady released from hospital, flying home with team
Wichita State forward Anton Grady will return home with his team after being hospitalized following an on-court collision during Friday’s game against Alabama at the AdvoCare Invitational, reports the Associated Press.
Grady sustained what is believed to be a spinal cord concussion after running headfirst into Alabama’s Dazon Ingram with 3:07 left in the game. After the collision, he remained motionless on the court for several minutes before before being taken off in a stretcher. According to doctors, Grady has no signs of spinal cord trauma.
Wichita released a statement following the team’s 84–62 loss to Iowa on Sunday in which Grady thanked his friends, family and supporters for “all of the love and encouragement” he has received following his injury.

“I have a lot of work to do to get back on the court, but with the help of such a great support system, I’m ready for the challenge,” Grady said.
Grady was released from Orlando Regional Medical Center on Sunday evening. He is reportedly able to walk with assistance.
“Anton is in great spirits,” said head Coach Gregg Marshall. “I think we’re out of the woods as far as his injury goes. Now it's just a matter of him rehabbing. What comes next after that, I don’t know.”
The Shockers’ next game is on Saturday against the Saint Louis Billikens.
