Brodziansky scores 19, TCU beats Colgate 76-49

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Vladimir Brodziansky provided the fast start TCU coach Trent Johnson knew his team needed on Saturday night.

Three days after the Horned Frogs (4-3) lost a late lead and a game to SMU, Brodziansky scored eight of the game's first 15 points. TCU never trailed in a 76-49 win over Colgate.

''Our energy coming in was a concern,'' Johnson said. ''We did a good job of playing hard.''

Brodziansky finished with 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting, playing just 18 minutes. He opened the scoring 14 seconds into the game, and added six more points during an 8-0 run that gave the Horned Frogs a quick 13-2 advantage.

Despite playing 9 minutes in the first half, Brodziansky scored 10 points. TCU led 37-19 at the break.

''We did a good job shooting the ball,'' Johnson said. ''Vladdy can score. We're interested in him being a complete basketball player. Vladdy made some big strides today.''

Brodziansky also had three rebounds and blocked a shot.

The Horned Frogs (4-3) dominated the boards in the first half, with 24 rebounds to Colgate's 11. Karviar Shepherd had 10 rebounds in his first 10 minutes on the court. He finished the game with 11.

''The ability to react to the ball was better,'' Johnson said. ''Being the first guy to react to it is so important. We had a size advantage in the post.''

TCU's Brandon Parrish scored 14 points. Malique Trent led the Frogs with seven assists, to go with six points and six rebounds.

''With the three losses, we learned a lot,'' Parrish said. ''This is a big win. We've got a big month coming up.''

For the game, TCU shot 51 percent from the floor and controlled the glass 40-23.

Austin Tillotson led the Raiders (2-5) with 20 points on 7-for-14 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Dave Krmpotich added 10 before he fouled out in the final minute.

Another 8-0 run in the second half stretched the Frogs' lead to 22 points, 50-28. Their largest lead was 28 points on JD Miller's free throw with 2:04 to play that made it 74-46.
