Four-star wide receiver Bryan Edwards committed to South Carolina on Tuesday, reportsThe State’s Phil Kornblut.

Edwards, who is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 48 wide receiver in the class of 2016, was originally committed to the Gamecocks, but de-committed last month before re-committing on Tuesday. He chose South Carolina over Clemson.

“Yesterday (Monday) he was all torn up, he was struggling,” Conway High School head coach Chuck Jordan toldThe State. “When he walked in the office today, I could tell he was a lot better. He said he wanted to be a Gamecock. I drilled him a little bit on it and he said, ‘Coach, it’s just a fit for me. I like where I fit at South Carolina. I like where the program is going and I’m comfortable with that, and that’s how I feel.’ We called Coach [Will] Muschamp and we called Coach [Dabo] Swinney and told them, and that’s it.”

During his senior year at Conway, the South Carolina native sustained a season-ending knee injury. Despite his shortened season, Edwards finished his high school career with 188 receptions for 2,562 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Edwards, who will enroll at South Carolina in January, now brings the Gamecocks’ 2016 recruiting class total to 14.
