Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones will enter NFL draft
Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones will enter the NFL draft, he told reporters on Wednesday.
The junior made his first career start for Ohio State in last season’s Big Ten championship game, and then led the Buckeyes to a national championship.
He began this season as the team’s starting quarterback before being replaced by J.T. Barrett following the team’s 38–10 win over Penn State. Jones held the starting quarterback position against Minnesota when Barrett was suspended by the team following a citation for operating a motor vehicle while impaired.
On Wednesday, Jones also told reporters that he rather sit on the bench at Ohio State next season than transfer to another school.
After the Buckeyes’ 17–14 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 21, Jones hinted that he would be leaving after the conclusion of this season, tweeting that it was the “last time” he would walk into Ohio Stadium.
Jones didn’t see action in Ohio State‘s last two games. In 2015, Jones has completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,460 yards, with eight touchdowns and five interceptions.
Ohio State (11–1) will play Notre Dame (10–2) on New Year’s Day in the Fiesta Bowl.
