Stanford cornerback Quenton Meeks took back a first-quarter pick-six to give the Cardinal a 21–0 lead over Iowa in the Rose Bowl.

Meeks, a freshman, jumped an out route and intercepted Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard, taking the ball 66 yards the other way for the score, as part of No. 6 Stanford’s dominant first quarter.

The Cardinal kicked the extra point to go up 21–0 after the score. Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffrey opened the game with a 75-yard touchdown catch on the first play from scrimmage.
