Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey didn’t waste any time on Friday in showing why he’s one of the top players in the country.

The Heisman runner-up caught a pass over the middle from quarterback Kevin Hogan, and dashed 75 yards to begin the Rose Bowl with a touchdown reception. It was the longest touchdown of his career.

It gave Stanford a 7–0 lead over the Iowa Hawkeyes early in the first.

McCaffrey wasn’t done quite yet. In the opening minute of the second quarter, with the Cardinal leading 21–0, McCaffrey ran a punt back 63 yards for a touchdown.

Later in the second quarter, McCaffrey had another long touchdown run called back for holding.
