Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams left in the second quarter of Saturday’s Alamo Bowl game against TCU after a helmet-to-helmet collision.

Adams was scrambling to his left and lowered his head into the shoulder of TCU defensive back Derrick Kindred. He was shaken up on the field after the play and walked off under his own power with athletic trainers. Oregon led 28–0 at the time.

Adams, who had completed 13 of 19 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown, was replaced by Jeff Lockie.

Oregon led 31–0 at the half. During the third quarter, Adams emerged from the locker room onto the sidelines in street clothes, apparently out for the rest of the game.

The senior quarterback, who transferred from Eastern Washington over the summer, entered the game with 2,446 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions in his lone season with Oregon.
