Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey declares for NFL draft
Florida State junior Jalen Ramsey has declared for the NFL draft, the school announced Tuesday.
“Today, after having in depth discussions with my parents, my coaches and others whom I hold dear to my heart, I am announcing my decision to pursue my dream, forgo my senior year of football at Florida State and declare for the 2016 NFL Draft,” Ramsey said in a statement.
Ramsey finishes his career as a Seminole with 180 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 23 pass breakups and three interceptions in 41 games.
“I think it is a very smart decision by him,” head coach Jimbo Fisher said. “He will be a tremendous pro. He was an outstanding player and leader for us. I cannot say enough good things about him. I wish him nothing but the best and he will always be a part of the Florida State family.”

Ramsey, a member of the 2013 national championship team, became the first Florida State freshman to start at cornerback since Deion Sanders. He also saw time at safety and nickelback during his three years.
In addition to his success on the football field, Ramsey also won the ACC indoor and outdoor track and field titles in the long jump in 2015.
Ramsey is projected to be a top five pick in the NFL draft, which will take place on April 24.
