New Mexico agrees to contract extension with head coach Bob Davie
New Mexico has agreed to a two-year contract extension with head coach Bob Davie, the school announced on Monday.
Davie, who was named the head coach of the Lobos in November 2011, received his first contract extension in April 2013 after his first season with the team. His new deal will keep him with New Mexico through the 2021 season.
Prior to joining New Mexico, Davie served as the head coach of Notre Dame from 1997-2001. The 61-year-old began his coaching career in 1977 as a graduate assistant with Pittsburgh, later coaching at Arizona, Tulane and Texas A&M.
“Under the leadership of Coach Davie, our football program has transformed both on and off the field,” said New Mexico’s Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs in a statement. “We have a healthy future for our program, and I'm excited to have Coach Davie lead us.”

In four seasons with New Mexico, Davie has compiled a record of 18–32. This year, he led the Lobos to their first bowl game appearance since 2007.
