Alabama tight end O.J. Howard was the unlikely hero for the tide in Monday’s national championship against Clemson.

Howard, a junior, had not scored a touchdown since 2013, despite playing in all of Alabama’s games over the last two season. But he scored twice on Monday against the Tigers.

Howard hauled in five passes for a total of 208 yards, including a 63-yard catch late in the fourth quarter that helped ice the game.
