Illinois LB T.J. Neal Jr. will transfer to Auburn

The Illini have lost six of their top seven tacklers from last season in a mass exodus.

Illinois linebacker T.J. Neal announced on his Twitter page that he will be transferring to Auburn. 

“It has been an honor to have been given the chance to play college football,” Neal wrote on Twitter. “For my senior year, I chose to sign with the University of Auburn. I want to thank the coaching staff at the University of Auburn for giving me this opportunity. Also, I want to thank my family, friends, and significant other for helping me through this uncomfortable time.”

Last season, Neal tallied 109 tackles, good for second–most on the Fighting Illini. He also had 14 tackles for loss in 2015.

The Illini have lost six of their top seven tacklers from last season.

Neal is eligible to play for the Tigers next season as a senior.
