Louisiana-Lafayette vacates 22 games, including two bowl victories
Louisiana-Lafayette will vacate 22 games from 2011–14, including victories in the 2011 and 2013 New Orleans Bowl, the school announced Thursday.
The school is vacating all wins from the 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons in which ineligible athletes participated, as well as vacating the statistics from athletes found to be ineligible. The Ragin’ Cajuns are being penalized after a former assistant coach was found guilty of falsifying ACT scores of five athletes.
“While it is disappointing to vacate these victories and championships, we finally put this chapter behind us and will continue to grow our championship football program,” athletic director Scott Farmer said in a statement. “We stand behind the integrity and accomplishments of Coach Mark Hudspeth, members of his coaching staff and each of our student-athletes who played football during the Hudspeth era.”

The coach responsible for falsifying the scores, David Saunders, left the school in August of 2014. Louisiana-Lafayette had also self-imposed sanctions after the allegations were announced last fall, including a reduction in scholarships and recruiting visits.
