Report: Ohio State’s Daniel Giddens requests release, expected to transfer

Ohio State center Daniel Giddens has requested a release from the team and is expected to transfer, reports ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

Giddens, a freshman, averaged 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game during his first season with the Buckeyes. The Mabelton, Ga., native started in seven of 33 games for Ohio State this season. 

The 6'10" center was a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school and received offers from Arizona, Kansas, Florida and other programs. 

Ohio State finished the regular season with a 20–13 overall record and 11–7 in conference play.

The Buckeyes lost to Florida on Sunday in the second round of the NIT, 74–66.
