Four-star center Bruno Fernando committed to SMU on Friday, he announced at the Dick’s Nationals tournament in New York City.

The 6'10" Montverde Academy center rates as the 100th overall player in the Scout 100 and the 22nd best center in the class.

From Scout.com’s Brian Snow:

A 6-foot-10 center, Fernando has high level athleticism and should make an instant impact rebounding and on the defensive end while he continues to improve on offense.

When announcing his commitment on ESPNU, Fernando said, “I want to thank all of the colleges that recruited me so hard, but I have made my decision and I will be attending SMU.”

According to Fernando this was a decision that came down to the relationship that he had with Larry Brown and the coaching staff at SMU.

“I was there on campus and I built a relationship with the coaches,” said Fernando. “I just felt that once I got there it was the place I wanted to be.”

SMU also holds commitments from five-star big men Harry Froling and Ted Kapita, in addition to three-star guards DaShawn McDowell and Tom Wilson.
