Notre Dame to pause Shamrock Series for 2017; 2018 return likely

Notre Dame football’s Shamrock Series will likely be put on hold for the 2017 season, but is expected to return for the 2018 season, reports ESPN’s Heather Dinich.
“In all likelihood we will not do one in ‘17, because that’s the opening of the Crossroads and we want to maximize the number of home games, but we anticipate doing it in subsequent years,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said on Wednesday. “It's been phenomenal. We have a lot of people who annually target that game and make it one where they get together with former classmates and really plan their years around it. It's been good.”
Notre Dame’s stadium renovations, which were announced in January 2014, are projected to be completed in August 2017.
The first Shamrock Series took place in 2009 in San Antonio. The idea behind the event is to allow Notre Dame fans to experience a home-away-from-home game series. Since 2009, the series has taken place in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Dallas, Indianapolis and Boston. The series will return to San Antonio this season where the Fighting Irish will take on Army.
