A high school in McKinney, Texas has voted in favor of building the most expensive high school stadium in the country.
A board has moved forward with a bond that supports a $62.8 million, 12,000-seat high school football stadium.
About $50.3 million will come from the town as part of a $220 million bond. The other $12.5 million of the stadium's construction has already been raised as part of a bond that was approved in 2000.
High school football in Texas is no joke, as the city of Allen has a $60 million football stadium that holds 18,000 fans. Katy, Texas is finalizing its own $62.5 million stadium.
Money will also go into improving the heating, ventilation and air conditioning replacements of the facilities as well as new roofs, plumbing and electrical work. The school district's overview shows that more money will go into the athletic facility than their improvements to the school's facilities.
