Notre Dame WR Corey Robinson ends career due to concussions

Notre Dame wide receiver Corey Robinson has decided to end his football career, he announced Wednesday.
The upcoming season would have been Robinson’s final year with the Fighting Irish. The son of NBA Hall-of-Famer David Robinson, the wide receiver cited concussions as the reason for cutting his football career short.
“After much contemplation and prayer, I have decided not to continue playing football due to multiple concussions,” Robinson said in a statement. He went on to say he would help the team as an assistant during his senior year on campus.
“This was an extremely tough decision for Corey,” coach Brian Kelly said in a statement. “He’s such a committed kid to everything he does—whether it be academics, football, community service or campus leadership initiatives—that he wanted to finish his four-year career on the field.”

Robinson played at Notre Dame for three seasons. In his career, Robinson caught 65 passes for 896 yards and seven touchdowns.
