Baylor, Art Briles mutually agree to part ways

Baylor and former football coach Art Briles have mutually agreed to part ways, the school announced on Friday.
“Baylor University and Art Briles have mutually agreed to terminate their employment relationship, effective immediately,” a statement read. “Both parties acknowledge that there were serious shortcomings in the response to reports of sexual violence by some student-athletes, including deficiencies in University processes and the delegation of disciplinary responsibilities within the football program. Baylor is addressing these shortcomings and making ongoing improvements.”

Briles was “suspended with the intent to terminate” back in May after details of a large sexual assault scandal, which officials and coaches turned a blind eye to, surfaced. He reportedly reached a settlement agreement with the school earlier in the month.
The 60-year-old, who had coached Baylor since 2008, accused the school of wrongful termination last week.
