Former Baylor coach Art Briles told KCEN’s Jessica Morrey he will be a head coach again by 2017, either in college or the NFL.

Briles was suspended with the “intent to terminate” in May amid controversy over Baylor’s handling of rape allegations involving football players. Briles officially parted ways with the school in June, receiving a settlement for his dismissal.

Briles was successful on the field with the Bears, leading the program to a 65–37 record in eight seasons, including two conference championships and six bowl game appearances.

Some Baylor boosters reportedly wanted Briles back as the team’s coach in 2017, though Briles criticized the school after his dismissal, accusing Baylor of wrongful termination.

Baylor hired Jim Grobe as its interim coach to replace Briles.
