Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon sued by assault victim

Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon is being sued for negligence, willful and wanton misconduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress by the victim of a 2014 assault, according to documents obtained by Deadspin.
On July 25, 2014, Mixon punched Amelia Monitor in the face outside a Norman, Okla., cafe, leaving her with several broken bones in her face. Monitor’s suit is calling on Mixon to pay medical and legal fees, and to pay for the distress she experienced as a result of the incident.
In February, video of the incident was ruled as public record.
Mixon accepted an “Alford Plea” to the misdemeanor charge of acts resulting in gross injury/outraging public decency and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. The plea allows him to maintain his innocence but also says there is enough evidence to convict him.
After he was suspended for the 2014 season, Mixon returned last season as a freshman and was the Sooners’ second-leading rusher with an average of 6.8 yards per carry.
