Al-Quadin Muhammad, Jermaine Grace dismissed from Miami program
Miami has dismissed two of its top defensive players from the team for violating NCAA rules, the team announced Saturday.
Redshirt junior defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad and senior linebacker Jermaine Grace were permanently dismissed for an undisclosed violation. The university will honor their scholarships through their graduations from the university. In a statement, Miami said there will be no further penalties for the program as no staff members or boosters were involved.
The Palm Beach Postreported that Muhammad and Grace missed parts of the Hurricanes’ practice on Thursday as part of an NCAA investigation into their use of luxury rental cars.
Muhammad led the team in tackles for loss (8.5) and sacks (5) last season. Grace led the team in tackles with 79.
Muhammad missed the entire 2014 season after punching another student in the face, leading to his suspension. He was also suspended for last year’s season opener for a violation of team rules, the Postnotes.
