Five things to know about new Purdue coach Jeff Brohm
Purdue has found the man it hopes can revitalize the school's football program. On Monday, the school announced it had hired Jeff Brohm away from Western Kentucky. Here are a few things you should know about the man who will look to guide the Boilermakers back to relevance.
He led Western Kentucky to three straight winning seasons
Brohm, now 45, took over for Bobby Petrino at Western Kentucky in 2014. It marked Brohm's first stint as a head coach in college football. He went 8–5, 12–2 and 10–3 in his three seasons and won both bowl games he coached in. The Hilltoppers are headed to the Boca Raton Bowl this year. WKU won Conference USA in both 2015 and 2016.
Three Hilltoppers were selected in the 2016 NFL Draft
Tight end Tyler Higbee, quarterback Brandon Doughty and defensive back Prince Charles Iworah were all picked during the most recent NFL draft. Purdue had just one player selected.

Purdue opened the checkbook
ESPN reported that Brohm will receive a six–year contract worth $20 million. When Purdue hired Darrell Hazell, he was given a contract worth $12 million over six years.
Brohm played quarterback in the NFL
Brohm played seven years in the NFL for six different teams before finishing his career with one season in the XFL. He only played in two seasons while in the NFL, both with the San Francisco 49ers. While in the XFL, he was knocked out by a brutal hit and delivered a memorable interview.
He's from the Midwest
Being familiar with the region is always important in recruiting. Brohm is from Lousiville, and played football at the University of Louisville before moving on to the NFL.
