Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence's standout freshman season has drawn the attention of NFL fans eyeing their next franchise quarterback. But when will Lawrence be able to enter the draft?
Lawrence will spend at least the 2020 with the Tigers before become eligible. 2020 will mark Lawrence's junior season with Clemson, making him then eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft. The nation's top recruit in 2018 can first walk across the stage at the NFL draft in April 2021, likely one year after LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.
Lawrence enters Monday night's national title game with 37 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the season. The Cartersville, Ga., native replaced Kelly Bryant as Clemson's starter in September 2018, going 25–0 as a starter for the Tigers since seizing the starting role. Lawrence finished seventh in the Heisman voting in 2019.
Burrow is the likely No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 2019 National Championship could mark the first battle of back-to-back No. 1 picks since Tim Couch vs. Peyton Manning in 1997.
