Mikey Williams Arrested on Assault With Deadly Weapons Charges, per Report

Memphis signee Mikey Williams was arrested in Southern California on Thursday, Jackson Brown of ABC 24 Memphis reports.

According to the report, Williams was arrested at 3:30 p.m. local time Thursday afternoon on five charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Williams was then released on a $50,000 bail early Friday morning, and his first court appearance is April 20, Brown states.

The specifics of the arrest are currently unknown.

If convicted, Williams’s charges can each result in a minimum of six months in county jail, per California law. With five total charges, that could mean a minimum of 2.5 years in jail.

Williams is a five-star recruit and consensus top-50 player in the class of 2023. He committed to Memphis in November and is the Tigers’ top recruit heading into next season. The 18-year-old was born in San Diego and attended San Ysidro High School in the city as a freshman and senior, with a stint at Lake Norman Christian School (N.C.) in between.
