Deion Sanders Was Asked About Constant Rumors About Other Jobs, Including Texas A&M

Deion Sanders is no stranger to the annual rumors in the carousel of football programs seeking to find their next head coach after a disappointing season on the field.

On Sunday, Texas A&M joined the list of teams that will be searching for its next coach  after the Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher following six seasons with the program. Sanders has deep roots in Texas as he played five of his 14 NFL seasons with the Cowboys. The Pro Football Hall of Famer also has knack for landing elite recruits and Texas is a hotbed for college football recruiting.

However, Sanders is currently focused on lifting Colorado (4-6) from a four-game losing streak after starting the season at 3-0. When reporters asked Sanders about his name being rumored for the Aggies coaching vacancy, the Buffaloes’ coach quickly shot down the idea.

“I want to win a game,” Sanders said. “You think I really do sit down and think about that kind of stuff? ... C’mon, I’m good. We’ve got to win. Let’s focus on this week."

Sanders also doubled down on his current position of leading Colorado and being firmly established in Boulder.

“I am here [Colorado],” Sanders said. “I am here. My mother is here, my sister is here, my dog is here, my daughter is here, three of my sons are here and my other daughter comes out for the home games. I get mail here. Pay taxes here. I’m here.”

Prior to Colorado naming Sanders its football coach in December, the 56-year-old was rumored for multiple coaching jobs including South Florida and TCU while finishing his final season at Jackson State.

Colorado (4-6) will host Washington State on Friday with hopes of picking up a win to stay on track of making a postseason bowl game appearance.
