Colorado’s Kavosiey Smoke Says ‘Selfish’ Buffaloes Could’ve Gone Undefeated
Colorado backup running back Kavosiey Smoke apparently believes the Buffaloes could have won every game this season if not for his teammates’ selfish mindset.
Washington State blasted Colorado 56–14 in Pullman, Wash., Friday night, handing the Buffaloes their seventh loss of the season and their fifth straight since defeating Arizona State on Oct. 7. Smoke, who is in his sixth college football season after spending five years at Kentucky, tweeted his thoughts about the program on X (formerly known as Twitter) Saturday morning, hours after Colorado’s disappointing loss.
“simple fact bru we could’ve went undefeated this year😔to much selfish ball going on man can’t win like that💯gotta play and win as a team but if u go the other route u get results like this🦬,” Smoke wrote.
Smoke hasn’t seen the field beyond special teams duty and two carries for Colorado this season. A day before Colorado’s 34–31 loss to Arizona on Nov. 11, Smoke tweeted about his limited playing time with the program.
“Hurt I didn’t get to show yall my real talent that I know I got,” Smoke wrote on Nov. 10.
Prior to joining the Buffaloes, Smoke registered 1,583 yards in five seasons with the Wildcats. However, he was never the lead running back for Kentucky, playing behind standouts such as Benny Snell Jr. and Chris Rodriguez.
Now, Smoke will prepare to play in his last collegiate game on Nov. 25 when Colorado (4–7, 1–7 Pac-12) goes on the road to face No. 22 Utah (7–3, 4–3) at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
