In his bid to return Michigan to glory, new Wolverines coach Dusty May has landed the son of NBA royalty.

Guard Justin Pippen of Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles has committed to play for Michigan, he told Joe Tipton of On3 Friday afternoon. Per Tipton, the Wolverines beat out California, Florida, Stanford and Texas A&M for his services.

Pippen is the son of Hall of Fame forward Scottie Pippen, a seven-time All-Star with the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers from 1988 to 2004.

“I chose Michigan because my long-term goal is to make the NBA,” Pippen said. “Michigan is great for my development and playing on that big of a stage in that conference is great for me.”

Justin's brother, Scotty Pippen Jr., is a second-year guard for the Memphis Grizzlies who made two All-SEC teams at Vanderbilt.

Michigan is attempting to regroup after posting an 8–24 record in 2024 that ended with the firing of coach Juwan Howard. That ledger constituted the Wolverines' worst winning percentage since a 6–18 record in 1961.
